Surrogacy with egg donation is often considered when there are challenges related to both ovarian function and the ability to carry a pregnancy. It is frequently chosen by couples facing medical or genetic conditions that make pregnancy through IVF difficult or impossible.
Surrogacy with Donor Eggs is Recommended for
- Intended mothers who are unable to produce healthy eggs due to early menopause, diminished ovarian reserve, genetic conditions, certain medical treatments, or previous surgeries.
- Women who are unable to carry a pregnancy — including those withcongenital absence of the uterus or anatomical uterine abnormalities (such as Rokitansky syndrome and other anomalies), as well as those who have undergone a hysterectomy.
- Couples who have experienced multiple unsuccessful IVF attempts using their own eggs and wish to improve their chances of success.
Surrogacy and Egg Donation Law in Georgia
Eligibility: Surrogacy and egg donation are legally permitted in Georgia for heterosexual married couples or for heterosexual couples who have lived together for at least one year and can provide official proof of cohabitation.
Birth Certificate: Under Georgian law, when a child is born through surrogacy, the intended parents are listed as the child’s only legal parents on the birth certificate. Neither the surrogate mother nor the egg donor has any parental rights, and their names do not appear on the certificate.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
We know that fertility care often brings up many questions — and that every journey is different. Below you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions our patients ask.
Who is surrogacy with egg donation program recommended for?
Surrogacy with egg donation is recommended for intended mothers unable to produce healthy eggs due to early menopause, diminished ovarian reserve, genetic conditions, certain medical treatments, or previous surgeries. It’s also suited to women unable to carry a pregnancy — including those with congenital absence of the uterus or anatomical abnormalities such as Rokitansky syndrome, or those who have undergone a hysterectomy — as well as couples who’ve had multiple unsuccessful IVF attempts with their own eggs.
How are egg donors selected by the intended parents?
All egg donors are recruited and screened through Reproart’s in-house donor agency. Each candidate completes a medical questionnaire and is assesses by the clinical team before being added to the database. Intended parents get access to regularly updated donor profiles, including family and medical history, recent natural photos, and key personal traits.
How reliable is the information in the donor questionnaire?
Donor questionnaires are thorough and verified to provide accurate and reliable information for your peace of mind. Egg donors are guided to provide the most precise information and remain responsible for accurately reporting their family medical history.
How is the screening process for egg donors and surrogate mothers conducted?
At Reproart, the health and wellbeing of our egg donors and surrogate mothers is a top priority — not just during the procedure, but well beyond it. Each candidate undergoes a detailed medical questionnaire, comprehensive health and infectious disease testing, and psychological evaluation before being approved. Rather than a single checkup, screening is carried out in stages throughout the process, ensuring that donors and surrogates are not only fit at the time of egg retrieval or embryo transfer, but remain healthy afterward, once they have fulfilled their role for the intended parents.
How is the surrogate mother selected?
Surrogates at Reproart are Georgian women aged 21–38 who have already given birth to at least one healthy child. Each candidate completes full medical screening — including bloodwork, ultrasound, infectious disease testing, and a general health evaluation — before being matched with intended parents.
Are we legally recognized as our child's parents, and does the egg donor have any parental rights?
Yes. Under Georgian law, intended parents are listed as the child’s only legal parents on the birth certificate. Neither the surrogate nor the egg donor has any parental rights, and their names do not appear on the certificate.
