Surrogacy and Egg Donation Law in Georgia

Eligibility

Surrogacy and egg donation are legally permitted in Georgia for heterosexual married couples or for heterosexual couples who have lived together for at least one year and can provide official proof of cohabitation.

Birth Certificate

Under Georgian law, when a child is born through surrogacy, the intended parents are listed as the child’s only legal parents on the birth certificate. Neither the surrogate mother nor the egg donor has any parental rights, and their names do not appear on the certificate.

Flexible Options for Starting the Guaranteed Program

At Reproart, we understand that every journey is unique. That’s why our Guaranteed Surrogacy Program offers several pathways to begin, depending on your medical history, location, and personal preferences.

Option 1: Start with Your Own Eggs

If medically appropriate, ovarian stimulation may begin in your home country with your local doctor, under remote guidance from our team. You would then travel to Georgia for egg retrieval — typically requiring a 2–3 day stay.

Alternatively, you may choose to undergo the full stimulation and retrieval process at Reproart, which generally involves a 15–16 day visit. In both cases, prior medical approval is required.

Option 2: Start with Shipped Embryos

If you already have embryos created abroad, they can be legally and safely shipped to Georgia, pending medical and legal pre-approval. Once received, the program continues with embryo transfer and all necessary care through pregnancy and birth.

If pregnancy is not achieved using your own eggs or embryos (Options 1 or 2), the program can continue with egg donation (Option 3).

Option 3: Start Directly with Egg Donation

Some intended parents decide to begin the guaranteed program with donor eggs from the start. In this case, you’ll have full access to Reproart’s secure donor database and receive personalized guidance from your coordinator throughout the selection process. We will help you match with a donor whose profile best aligns with your medical needs and personal preferences.

The Benefit of Starting the Guaranteed Program at Reproart

This program covers everything you need from your first consultation to obtaining your child’s birth certificate. All IVF/ICSI cycles and embryo transfers are included, with no limit on the number of attempts. Medical care continues through each phase, from embryo creation to pregnancy monitoring and delivery. PGT-A is included when medically recommended.

Donor and surrogate support includes comprehensive screening and full medical care. Surrogates receive ongoing prenatal care and deliver in a trusted maternity hospital.

Our team will take care of all necessary documentation, including the notarized agreement and birth certificate. Additional services such as insurance, accommodation support, and local assistance are also available.
