We see our surrogates as partners in a shared journey, not just participants in a program. Every surrogate at Reproart receives full support and guidance, from the very first call to the moment a family is born — and beyond.

What is Surrogacy?

Surrogacy is an assisted reproduction process where a woman (the surrogate) carries and gives birth to a child for intended parents. In Georgia, only gestational surrogacy is allowed — meaning the surrogate has no genetic connection to the child, and the embryo is created from the intended parents’ or donors’ eggs and sperm.

Who can Become a Surrogate Mother in Georgia?

Surrogacy is legally permitted in Georgia and is regulated by Georgian law to ensure the protection of all parties involved.

  • Be a healthy adult woman, age between 21 and 41
  • Have at least one biological child of her own, born without complications
  • Have no medical contraindications for pregnancy or childbirth
  • Provide informed, written consent to participate in the surrogacy program
  • Not be the genetic (biological) mother of the child — only gestational surrogacy is allowed (the surrogate carries an embryo created from the intended parents’ or donors’ gametes)

Who is Surrogacy for?

In Georgia, surrogacy is allowed only for heterosexual couples who cannot carry a pregnancy themselves for medical reasons. As a surrogate, you will be helping a couple who may have:

  • Lost their uterus due to surgery
  • Faced repeated IVF failures
  • A health condition that makes pregnancy unsafe

The embryo you carry will be created from their egg and sperm — or from donors — but never from your own egg. You will not be genetically related to the baby.

Your Step-by-Step Surrogacy Journey

At Reproart, becoming a surrogate means joining a caring team that stands by you every step of the way. From your very first meeting to the day a new family is created, your safety, rights, and well-being always come first. We take care of every detail — medical, legal, and emotional — so you feel informed and protected throughout the entire journey. Here, you are never alone. Your trust is our greatest responsibility.

1. Warm Welcome & Application

Begin with a personal conversation — our surrogacy coordinators will answer all your questions, discuss your motivation, and explain the process clearly and openly.

2. Medical & Psychological Evaluation

Reproart’s multidisciplinary team conducts thorough health checks (including ultrasound, labs, infectious disease screening), genetic counseling, and psychological assessment — all handled with warmth and confidentiality.

3. Legal Clarity and Consent

Before moving forward, we walk you through every legal step. You’ll have your own independent legal advisor and our team will ensure you understand every aspect — including Georgian law and your rights. All agreements are drafted and reviewed by leading law firm specializing in reproductive medicine.

4. Personalized Matching

You’ll be matched only with intended parents who share your values and expectations, ensuring a respectful and positive relationship for everyone. Your privacy and preferences are always honored.

5. Notarized Surrogacy Agreement

Before the embryo transfer, you’ll sign a notarized agreement with the intended parents. This contract outlines your medical care, financial terms, and legal responsibilities — making sure everything is clear, respectful, and protected.

6. Embryo Transfer

You will receive a tailored medical protocol, including hormone preparation and monitoring. Embryo transfer is a gentle, painless procedure performed in our advanced IVF clinic.

7. Pregnancy Support

Our team provides ongoing medical supervision (regular ultrasounds, check-ups, lab tests), emotional support, and legal guidance throughout pregnancy. Your coordinator is available 24/7.

8. Delivery

You’ll give birth at a trusted maternity hospital in Georgia, with full support from our team. Your coordinator will be by your side throughout the process. All conditions outlined in your notarized contract will be fully respected and fulfilled.

9. Postpartum & Long-Term Support

We offer physical and emotional support after birth, including follow-up visits, counseling, and community connections. Your wellbeing is our priority, even after your surrogacy journey is complete.

What if the Surrogate Doesn’t Live in Georgia?

At Reproart, we welcome surrogates from both within and outside Georgia. If a surrogate lives outside the country, here’s how we make the process smooth, safe, and fully supported:

  • Travel and Accommodation Support – We help arrange her trip to Georgia for key stages of the program (medical tests, embryo transfer, delivery).
  • Medical Care in Georgia – All critical procedures, including embryo transfer and delivery, take place at our clinic or trusted partner hospitals.
  • Ongoing Support – Throughout her stay in Georgia, the surrogate receives personalized care, accommodation, transportation, and emotional support from our dedicated surrogate care team.
