Arriving in Georgia
Airports & Getting to the City
Georgia is easy to reach, with several international airports welcoming travelers from Europe, the Middle East, and beyond. Whether you’re flying in for medical care or leisure, getting from the airport to the city is straightforward and stress-free.
Airports are small and easy to navigate, with clear signage in both Georgian and English. Friendly staff are usually available to assist, and most visitors are pleasantly surprised by how quickly they exit customs and reach their destination.
If you’re arriving late at night or traveling with children, we recommend pre-booking your transfer to make your arrival smooth and worry-free. Taxis and ride apps are affordable, and many hotels also offer shuttle services. No matter where your journey begins, Georgia makes the arrival feel simple — and the welcome, unforgettable.
Tbilisi International Airport
Tbilisi International Airport (TBS) is Georgia’s main gateway, located just 17 km (about 10 miles) southeast of the city center. Most international travelers arrive here. From the airport, you can take a taxi (approximately 30–40 GEL / 10–15 USD), arrange a private transfer, or use a rideshare app like Bolt. The ride usually takes 20–30 minutes, depending on traffic. There’s also a public bus (Route 337) that connects the airport to the central station — affordable (~1 GEL), but less convenient with luggage.
Kutaisi International Airport
Kutaisi International Airport (KUT), located in western Georgia, mainly serves low-cost airlines such as Wizz Air. It’s about 3.5 hours from Tbilisi and just 30–40 minutes from Kutaisi city center.
To Kutaisi: Taxi costs around 25–30 GEL (8–10 USD), or use a shared minibus (marshrutka) for 5–7 GEL.
To Tbilisi: Shuttle buses are available and cost approximately 30–35 GEL (10–12 USD). Travel time is 3.5 to 4 hours.
Batumi International Airport
Batumi International Airport (BUS), on the Black Sea coast, is ideal if you’re visiting western Georgia. It’s located just 5 km from the city center.
To Batumi center: Taxi costs 15–20 GEL (5–7 USD), and the ride takes about 10–15 minutes.
Some hotels offer free or pre-arranged transfers, especially during the summer season.
All airports offer basic services including currency exchange, SIM card kiosks, and cafés. If arriving late at night, we recommend pre-booking your transport to ensure a smooth experience.
